Erectile Dysfunction

What is ED?

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection that is satisfactory for sex. ED is surprisingly common affecting 52% of men.

Do I need a prescription to use Phoenix?

In Canada, a prescription is required for ED treatments such as Cialis or Viagra.

Which treatments do you offer for ED?

Phoenix offers multiple prescription ED medications in both generic and brand name options. Other options for treating ED include lifestyle changes, therapy, and other medications.

How do ED medications work?

PDE5 inhibitors are prescription drug used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. PDE5 inhibitors work to treat ED by relaxing muscles in blood vessel walls to help increase blood flow to the penis, making it easier to get and maintain an erection.

What is the difference between Cialis and Viagra?

Cialis is typically longer lasting. While Viagra works for three to five hours, a typical dose of Cialis keeps working for 24 to 36 hours in your body. Eating a high-fat meal with Viagra may reduce the absorption of the drug.

Hair Loss

Which treatments do you offer for hair loss?

Currently we offer a variety of brand name and generic medications for hair loss. Consult your Phoenix physician and our online assessment to find the right solution for you.

What is Finasteride (Propecia) and how does it work?

Finasteride is a hair treatment for men that helps to counter male pattern hair loss by reducing the activity of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) on the hair follicles. DHT is a molecule that activates a receptor in the hair follicle which causes the growth phase of the hair cycle to gradually decrease. This shrinks the follicle resulting in finer, shorter hairs until the growth phase is so short that hairs do not grow from the scalp at all.

Finasteride stops the production of DHT. It works as an inhibitor of 5-alpha-reductase, the enzyme which converts testosterone into DHT. This means that less DHT is present in the scalp (around 60% less), preventing further hair loss and in many cases, promoting hair regrowth.

How effective are prescription hair loss medications?

Phoenix offers treatment options which are known to be effective at treating thinning hair. While taking the medication consistently, long-term studies have shown increased hair on men within 3-6 months of starting treatment. The treatments that Phoenix offers are best used to prevent further hair loss, and are not a solution to regrow lost hair.

Hair regrowth is a naturally slow process so it may take a few months to notice any significant changes.

What happens if I stop using my hair loss treatment?

If you stop using your hair loss treatment, you'll most likely lose the hair you regrew during treatment in three to four months. As a result, for the best benefits, it is recommended that you use it on a regular basis.

We'll send you a refill of your hair loss therapy every month to keep you on track with your hair restoration journey, so you never have to worry about running out. You may keep any hair you regrow and encourage fresh hair development by staying on top of your hair growth prescription.
