Frequently asked
questions.

What are lab tests used for?

These tests establish a baseline for your overall health. We use them to identify specific opportunities to optimize your metabolic and hormonal health.

What do blood tests show?

They provide an objective look at your internal health, specifically your hormonal balance, nutrient levels, and indicators of systemic inflammation.

How do I know what my biomarker results mean?

One of our providers will review your results and connect with you to explain what your results mean and to provide recommendations about your health.

How accurate will my results be?

Lab testing is typically over 95% accurate with respect to any given health indicator (e.g. hormones, vitamins). Exact results vary based on the specific items being tested.

Can I use Raven Labs if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Yes. Just like any other blood draw, it does not affect you or your baby.

Do I need to fast before my blood draw?

No. Fasting is not required for these specific bloodwork panels as we aim to capture your health indicators (e.g. hormones, vitamins) in a state that reflects your body as it is on a typical day.

Can I exercise before my blood draw?

Yes. You can maintain your normal fitness routine, as we want to see how your body is doing with your current lifestyle.

How do I prepare for my blood draw?

Wear a loose-fitting top to provide easy access for the phlebotomist. Try and drink water that morning to be well hydrated. Be sure to bring your health card to the appointment.

Can I drink alcohol before my blood draw?

Yes, you may consume alcohol the evening prior, though we recommend moderation to ensure your results accurately reflect your baseline health.

Can I drink caffeine before my blood draw?

Yes, your morning coffee or tea will not interfere with these specific tests.

Can I eat or exercise after my blood draw?

Yes, you can maintain your normal diet and activity levels immediately following your appointment.

Is there an expiration date on the lab requisition or service?

We will issue a second lab requisition if you do not complete your lab within six months. Lab requisition themselves expire six months from the date of issue.

What provinces are you available in?

Raven Labs is currently available to patients located in Ontario only, following a medical assessment by a licensed healthcare provider.

How much does the assessment cost?

The assessment is $299 and includes:

  1. A lab test for 50+ women's health markers, including hormone levels, vital nutrients, organ function, and biological age.
  2. An online consult with a licensed healthcare provider in which they provide insights and a personalized action plan.
Are Raven services covered by my insurance plan?

Diagnostics is categorized as a medical expense and is generally eligible for HSA reimbursement in Ontario.

Is this a HSA-eligible & CRA-eligible medical expense?

Yes, these diagnostics are considered eligible medical expenses under most Health Spending Accounts (HSA) and CRA guidelines for Ontario residents.
